Jennifer Yates MSW RSW
Social Worker
I have worked with children, adolescents, and families for over 20 years, initially as a Child and Youth Worker (B.A. CYW Ryerson University 1998) and later, as a Registered Social Worker, graduating with a Master’s in Social Work (Wilfrid Laurier University 2007).
I specialize in working with individuals who have mood and anxiety related issues, as well as relational issues. For example, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, generalized/social anxiety, relationship conflict, emotional dysregulation, and marriage counselling.
My focus while meeting with individuals, couples, and families is to provide a safe environment that is supportive, inclusive, and collaborative while also engaging in insightful and compassionate conversations to help individuals foster and make meaningful changes in their lives.
I draw from a variety of clinical approaches, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (I have both individual and multi family skills training), trauma informed CBT and family systems theory. As a therapist I am empathic, accepting, and non-judgmental.
Therapy is not easy. I have been there. I know the vulnerability that can come with putting words to your most protected thoughts and feelings. I know the courage it takes to tell your story and open the door to healing and growth. You are not alone.
